    Glee Season 2 Episode 1 - Audition

    Aired: 9/21/2010

In the second season opener, some new faces challenge old ones in Glee club auditions. Meanwhile new and old relationships leave some happy and others alone. When both Will and Sue are bombarded by even more budget cuts, Finn and Rachel try to find new recruits for New Directions. Meanwhile, the football team adjusts to new football coach Shannon Beiste, Quinn replaces Santana as head of the Cheerios, and Tina and Mike begin dating.

    What Happend In This Episode:
    • Glee's own scandal blogger, Jacob Ben Israel (Josh Sussman), starts the new season out with one simple question asked on behalf of the multi-media empire that is his blog: "What did you do over your big gay summer?".The first person he asks is Rachel.
    •  Jacob then grills Mike Chang and Tina about their rumored new relationship. They deny it, pointing out it's racist to imply they're together just because they're both Asian. Then they stalk off, holding hands.
    • Next on Jacob's journalistic hit list is Mr. Schuester, who was stunned to be asked why the Glee Club's song selections sound like they come from a drag queen's , since they are, he says, "Twenty-five percent show tunes, 25 percent hip hop, and 25 percent classic rock."
    • Other summer news: Puck got a vasectomy, Santana got a boob job (although they're still smaller than Rachel's lips), and Kurt gets the first slushy-in-the-face of the season.
    • Sue, Will and all of us meet the awesomely butch Coach Bieste in Principal Figgins' office, where we learn that the Glee Club budget has been cut by 10 percent and its transportation budget has been revoked, and the Cheerios have lost their confetti cannons, all in the name of increasing funding to the football team.
    • Finn makes some "super-masculine sign-up sheets" and is posting them in the locker room when he sees the new kid who was tapping his foot in the courtyard, naked in the shower singing into his shampoo bottle.
    • Rachel, who runs into her toe-tapper (pop star Charice) in the bathroom. Rachel makes a total idiot of herself, assuming the girl doesn't speak English because she's an exchange student from the Philippines.
    • They rope new kid into the glee room. His name is Sam Evans, and he says he likes comic books and sports is rumored to be Kurt's future boyfriend.) Puck is fascinated by Sam's mouth, and asks how many tennis balls he can fit into it."I don't know," he answers. "I've never had any balls in my mouth. Have you?" They sing "Billionaire,"
    • Finn try out for the Cheerios, and it's so painful that poor Becky Jackson begs for it to end. Mr. Schuester tries to convince Principal Figgins to make Coach Bieste put Finn back on the team, but it doesn't work
    • Cat fight alert: Furious at being replaced as head cheerleader, Santana goes after Quinn in the hallway, calling her a "slut"
    • Sunshine "Clarice"sings "Listen" from the film version of Dreamgirls. The New Directioners are impressed, though, and Rachel pretends to cheer her on
    • Will walks up to Sunshine at her locker and gives her the New Directions rehearsal schedule. Only she won't be needing it, because Vocal Adrenaline gave her mother a condo and a green card, and she's jumping ship. And there's her new director, Dustin Goulsby, played by Cheyenne Jackson.
